Magath talks about Ballack's move to Chelsea

Share |

The most important transfer of the season was not the best news for him, but there is a good side. Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath feels that Michael Ballack leaving Bavaria to go to the English football will work in the club's favour.

As we all know, the Germany captain joined Bayern in 2002 from Bayer Leverkusen and has helped the German giants claim three Bundesliga titles in his time at the cteam, while he has also developed into Germany's best soccer player during the same period.

And then Ballack completed a move to English Premiership champions FC Chelsea after his contract in Bavaria ran out this summer, which has left a huge void in Bayern's midfield to fill.

According to rumours, Magath is still looking at the best way forward without the attacking midfielder but feels that the rest of the team will now raise their game, making them a better side than before.

"I admit that if a player like him leaves, then it is a loss. But new options have opened up, and that's good" he noticed.

I don't think Magath is being crazy. Even in the national team, when Ballack doesn't play, you can see that everybody tries to step up and give more, as they don't have him to rely on to bail the team out...so, this could really work for Bayern, one could predict the likes of Schweini and Lahm becoming even more important for the team...Heargreaves showed great things in the WC and with VanNistelrooy in th frame, Bayern could become fun to watch...
Yet, I bet they'll miss his crunch-time headers...but then who wouldn't...:)
