Mourinho is happy with Ballack's move to Chelsea

Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho welcomed the arrival of Michael Ballack to his team on Sunday and indicated the champions were trying hard to sign Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko.

Speaking from an open-topped bus as it snaked its way through west London, Mourinho told Chelsea TV: "He (Ballack) believes in us, he believes in Chelsea, he believes he can have success.

"He believes in the Champions League, he wants three, four years' success for him in a crucial time of his career." "He had a lot of other chances as you can imagine. He decided to come to Chelsea and I think we are very happy and I think also English football should be happy to have such a player playing in the Premiership."

In fact, the English champions are planning to present the 29-year-old playmaker, who helped Bayern Munich get a second successive German league and Cup double, at a news conference on Monday.

It important to mention that Bayern's fans, disappointed with Ballack's decision to leave, jeered him at his last game for the side on Saturday.

The German midfielder will be fighting for a place in a strong midfield that includes Frank Lampard, Claude Makelele of France and tough Ghana international Michael Essien.

Bayern got the Title

Bayern Munich celebrated the Bundesliga Title, but fans jeered Michael Ballack on this final day. In another game, Werder Bremen finished second and Kaiserslautern were relegated.

Michael Ballack, expected to join Chelsea in the summer, was not given a hero's send-off during Bayern's 3-3 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the last round of fixtures this season.

As we said, Bayern's fans celebrated their title success but gave the bird to Ballack in a pulsating match.

In fact, Dortmund took an early lead through Jan Koller but strikes from Roy Makaay, Bastian Schweingsteiger and Ballack put the hosts in charge.

However, David Degen and Koller retrieved a point for the visitors. This title is one of the most important ones in Bayern history.
