Ballack insists he was fit for the First game

Michael Ballack expressed Tuesday that he had no regret to say he's available before the World Cup opener. His words led to suspicions on disputes between him and head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

"I do not regret saying I was fit," Ballack said in a press conference before departing to Dortmund for their Group A match against Poland.

"Why should I lie? If people asked how I felt, why shouldn't I give an honest answer?" he continued.

Indeed, the talented midfielder insisted he had recovered from a niggling calf injury and declared himself fit to play ahead of Friday's match, but Klinsmann thought otherwise and decided against starting with Ballack.

"It's true, I thought I was fit, but he felt it was too risky and took the decision, together with the doctor, and I couldn't influence it. I resigned myself to my fate and I had to accept their decision."

Obviuosly, after missing Germany's 4-2 win against Costa Rica on Friday due to "injury", Ballack is anxious to rejoin the national squad.

"I'm sure for any player, the worse thing is to miss out through injury. Now I'm just happy to be playing my part," he finished.
